What Are Nylon Watch Straps?

For many watch enthusiasts, part of the fun of curating the perfect watch collection is collecting various straps to accompany their favorite timepieces. And if you ask me, there’s no such thing as having too many straps, either. Some of the most popular material options include rubber, leather, and nylon, each of which is available in the Everest catalog in many stylish and widely sought-after color options. Each material has its benefits and brings a different aesthetic to the table. Today, we’re going to focus on one of my favorite watch strap materials, Nylon.

Nylon watch straps are made from a lightweight interwoven textile material. They are a top choice for many avid watch collectors with an active lifestyle because the material is so versatile and practical. Nylon is durable yet lightweight and soft. If you live in a humid region, you’ll appreciate how breathable Nylon is and that it can get wet if you need it to without ruining the material. To the same effect, nylon dries quickly when it does get wet and will absorb water and sweat better than other materials. Nylon is also very easy to wash by simply rinsing it with water and laying it out to dry.

Types of Nylon Straps

Nylon also lends itself to a more casual aesthetic that is perfect for everyday wear and sportier watches. There are two main types of Nylon straps in the Everest catalog featuring either one piece of nylon or two. Two-piece straps connect to either end of the watch case via an innovative ABS plastic insert embedded in the nylon fabric that allows for a seamless and comfortable transition from the nylon strap to the case. The 2 piece nylon watch straps also feature curved ends for a flush, snug fit, hypoallergenic lining, and a 316L stainless steel tang buckle. Everest Nylon two-piece straps are Swiss-made and were developed specifically for select Rolex models: Submariner, Sea-Dweller, Explorer, Explorer II, GMT Master II, Daytona, Yacht-Master, and Oyster Perpetual.

The Everest catalog also features one-piece nylon straps made from seat belt nylon and with either a single-pass or looped design. These straps slide under the watch case and are secured by a 316L stainless steel buckle. They accommodate a variety of popular watch brands, such as Omega, Breitling, and Rolex. Everest one-piece straps also fit most watches with 20mm or 22mm watch lugs and connect to the watch case by sliding the strap through the existing spring bars. One-piece nylon watch straps don’t slide around the wrist and create a barrier between the skin and the watch case.
