Tudor Launches the Black Bay Chrono “Carbon 25” Ahead of Miami Grand Prix
The countdown display at Watches & Wonders booth—which we wrote about here—had us all guessing. Now we know why: Tudor just dropped a limited edition Black Bay Chrono—this one in full carbon fiber—timed perfectly with the 2025 Miami Grand Prix.
A Familiar Chrono with Welcome Changes
The new watch, dubbed the Black Bay Chrono “Carbon 25,” features a 42mm case made from carbon fiber, a first for the Black Bay Chrono lineup. The case has been slightly re-engineered to sit thinner on the wrist: 14.3mm compared to the 14.4mm steel models. It’s a subtle change on paper, but in practice, these tolerances can matter—especially in an activity-focused watch like this one.
There’s also a carbon fiber bezel, fixed and engraved with a tachymeter scale. The caseback is titanium with a black PVD finish, and each of the 2,025 examples is individually numbered. The pushers and crown are also black PVD titanium.
More Than Meets The Eye
The “racing white” dial gives off a clean first impression, but look closer and you’ll see that the circular subdials are exposed carbon fiber. Around the minute track, alternating blue hash marks and full blue surround inject just enough color to hint at this watch’s connection to the 2025 Visa Cash App RB Formula One livery.
Even the strap has been rethought. The black hybrid leather-rubber strap is stitched with matching blue thread and fitted with carbon fiber end links, giving the watch an integrated look that suits the case’s sharp angles. On the back of the strap, alternating snowflake hands create a “tire pattern.”
The Chrono We Know and Love
Inside is the MT5813 movement, which Tudor has used in its chronographs since 2017. Built on the Breitling B01 architecture, it features a column wheel, vertical clutch, silicon balance spring, and COSC certification. The chronograph readout features a 45-minute counter at 3 o’clock, running seconds at 9, and a date at 6. Power reserve is 70 hours.
A Limited Run with Precise Timing
Only 2,025 pieces of the Carbon 25 will be made, marking the year of this release and the racing team’s 2025 livery. With a $7,575 price tag, it’s the most motorsport-specific Tudor chrono since the brand’s modern return to racing began—and one of the coolest, if I may say so. The timing makes sense: this week’s Miami Grand Prix is a major moment on the Formula One calendar, and Tudor’s involvement with the Visa Cash App RB team is front and center.
Final Thoughts
This isn’t just a Black Bay Chrono in a new color, as many guessed it would be. With a redesigned carbon case, redesigned strap architecture, and unique dial details, the Carbon 25 offers something different—especially for fans of racing, technical materials, or just limited-edition Tudor releases. It’s a sharp, well-timed launch that keeps the momentum going in what’s shaping up to be an active year for the brand.
