The Tudor Fastrider Black Shield

Add the Fastrider Black Shield to the list of cool watches that no one’s buzzing about. I gotta be honest, I mostly don’t get the lack of buzz around the Fastrider series, which includes the Fastrider Chrono (ref. 42010N, your choice of yellow, red, or green dial) and the Fastrider Chronograph (ref. 42000D, your choice of silver, white or red dial – no extra charge for the racing stripe). I’m not making things up with the names, honest. There are alleged separate models with those names, listed on different pages of the website.

They should be compelling chronographs. Maybe they are in Europe. They haven’t been able to rise above the Heritage Chronos and the Black Bays and Pelegos here in the States.

The Black Shield (ref. 42000C#) has Tudor teaming with Ducati. The design inspiration was the legendary Ducati Diavel, a cruiser bike worthy of the name.

The 42mm case is injection molded ceramic with ceramic bezel and PVD coated stainless steel pushers and crown. The engine inside is the trusty Valjoux 7753, which Tudor has tuned just a bit. It’s all strapped down with black leather or rubber.

This thing is – how you say? Murdered out? Stealth on the wrist – especially when it’s worn in combination with a black leather motorcycle jacket. It maintains its readability with the use of red, silver, or gold hands and hour points.

Just make sure they can see you coming. I think that may be why there’s no buzz. Nobody can see this thing.
