Rolex Introduces a Green Ombré Lacquer Dial on the Datejust 36 and 41

Green is quintessentially Rolex. It's the color the brand reaches for when it wants to say something: anniversary models like the GMT-Master II 50th, Submariner 50th, and even this year's Oyster centenary model (albeit a bit less green). For Watches & Wonders 2026, it shows up on a new Rolesor (steel and white gold) Datejust in one of the most stunning dial executions Rolex has produced in years.

The Dial

Rolex has been making ombré dials since 2019, starting on the Day-Date and expanding to the Datejust 31 with last year's red ombré at W&W 2025. The green ombré on the 36 and 41 continues that progression — and arrives in a new form. As Rolex describes it: green lacquer is applied to the base plate, then black lacquer is sprayed in concentric motions toward the edges to create the gradient. This is the first ombré dial Rolex has produced that is entirely coated in lacquer. Previous ombré dials used different techniques. The result is a deep, rich green at the center that darkens progressively toward the bezel, with white dial text reading clearly against it throughout.

I've always been a sucker for an ombré dial — it's one of those details that is tough to capture with a photograph and rewards close inspection in person. This green, against a white gold and steel case, is timeless.

The Watch

Both the Datejust 36 (ref. 126200-0026) and Datejust 41 (ref. 126334-0033) get the green ombré dial, both in white Rolesor — Oystersteel paired with a white gold bezel and crown. The watch reads as steel at a glance; you notice the difference in luster on the polished surfaces, or when you pick it up and feel the weight. Each size is available with either a smooth or fluted bezel, and on either an Oyster or Jubilee bracelet.

In my opinion which I feel is fact, the fluted bezel with a Jubilee bracelet is the move. It's the classic Datejust configuration and the one that frames this dial best. Both references run the cal. 3235 with a 70-hour power reserve. Pricing is $11,650 for the Datejust 41 and $10,100 for the Datejust 36.

Final Thoughts

A green ombré dial on a white Rolesor Datejust isn't the loudest thing Rolex announced this week. But it might be the one people are still reaching for in twenty years.

Watches & Wonders 2026 is underway in Geneva, and we're covering every Rolex release as it happens. Check back on the Everest Journal daily — we'll be going deeper on each of these references as the week unfolds, and there's plenty more to come.
