While I was in Vegas last week for the Couture, JCK, and Antique Jewelry & Watch Shows, I ran into old friend Giorgia Mondani. For those of you who don’t know, Giorgia works along side her parents, Guido and Franca, and her husband Daniele in the family book publishing business, Guido Mondani Editore.
Well, and “old friend” is a bit of a stretch too. I met Giorgia and Daniele just four months ago at the Miami Antique & Watch show, a sister show to the one in Vegas. I picked up two books at that show, the Rolex Day-Date and the three volume Rolex Encyclopedia. I highly recommend both.
And this show was no different. Giorgia took me through an iPad presentation of the features and benefits of several other Mondani volumes. The books are really incredibly impressive. The Mondanis have put a tremendous amount of work into them, not to mention travel and digging to find the watches to photograph.
And yes, I picked up two more books, the Rolex Daytona Story and Collecting Rolex Submariner. Obviously, both are specialized. And I’d add, each contains a fabulous amount of detail on the various references of each model. Mine arrive via Fedex tomorrow and I can’t wait.
If you’d like your own copies, Giorgia just announced on social media this morning that both books are on sale (along with Rolex GMT-Master) on the Mondani website for a short time. Hurry – especially for the Rolex Daytona Story. That one’s a limited edition and I don’t know how many are left.
