Did Rolex Just Reveal an Unreleased Watch?

A few days ago, a lavender-dial Rolex appeared in the window of Oriental Watch Company in Hong Kong. The photo spread quickly—first on Reddit, then across watch Instagram—because the proportions didn’t match the new lavender Oyster Perpetuals we saw back in April. The 11 and 1 o’clock indices dipped below the coronet, the telltale layout of the 41mm OP. Collectors began asking the same question: had Rolex quietly built a larger lavender OP?

Rolex hadn’t announced anything new since Watches & Wonders in April, and the brand’s 2025 catalog still listed lavender only in the smaller sizes: 28, 31, 34, and 36 millimeters. So when that Hong Kong window appeared, it looked like a leak.

The Real Story

It wasn’t really a leak. On September 25th, Luxury Bazaar reported that both lavender and candy pink dials had been added to the Oyster Perpetual 41 lineup through Rolex’s internal ordering system. Authorized dealers could already register customer interest, and a handful of collectors had placed orders. The photo that set off speculation was simply the first public glimpse of a rollout already in motion.

Lavender and candy pink now join the OP41 family (ref. 134300) at a retail price of $6,650. The addition brings full size parity to both colors for the first time: lavender expands upward from its spring debut, and candy pink returns to the largest case after several years away.

Why It Matters

Rolex’s calendar isn’t as rigid as it once was. The company still unveils headline pieces at Watches & Wonders, but quieter mid-year expansions have become routine—new dial colors, materials, or bracelet options appearing through dealer networks long before they hit the website. It’s a subtle strategy that keeps the lineup evolving without the spectacle of a trade-show release.

In this case, the move makes sense. The lacquered pastel dials are among Rolex’s most requested configurations, and expanding them to 41 millimeters satisfies that steady demand. The rollout feels deliberate: low-key, localized, and perfectly in character for a brand that rarely explains itself.

The Takeaway

The lavender OP spotted in Hong Kong wasn’t a leak, but a confirmation. Rolex had already opened the orders weeks earlier, only no one outside the network knew it. That’s how many Rolex surprises happen now: a quiet database update, a rumor on a forum, and finally a photo in a boutique window that makes everyone stop scrolling.
