Check Out the New Rolexes Released at Baselworld 2018

Root beer pepsi Master GMT 2

Everest has had quite the week at Baselworld 2018. We wanted to follow up on the predictions from earlier last week and do a little recap as our team heads back from Basel, Switzerland. This year, Rolex decided to revamp the GMT Master 2 line which received huge feedback from the watch community.

GMT Master II Pepsi

The GMT 2 Pepsi was received with mixed opinions. Many critics noted that the contours of the lugs do not match the end links - they are elevated higher than the case. The new Pepsi is made of what Rolex has now coined a new Rolex term as “Oyster Steel” simply meaning 904L steel. And, the White Gold Pepsi will now only be offered in a blue dial. The desire for the black dial Coke in Steel on an Oyster Bracelet was not fulfilled this year to the disappointment of many.

So far, we’ve heard that the opinion is Jubilee bracelets may be a bit dated looking and more suited for a dress watch. Or, would you argue Rolex is embracing its heritage? Let us know your thoughts! Either way, we already have some Everest Bands fans requesting an aftermarket rubber watch band replacement…

Also, the “Rootbeer” reappeared this year with a steel and rose-gold two-tone and a full rose gold version will be available as well, but the bezel insert is brown and black, unlike the original light and dark brown combination. All new GMT Master 2 models were released with a 3285 calibre featuring 31 jewels with 70 hours of power reserve. The Chronergy escapement creates this even better energy efficiency, surpassing the previous 48 hour power reserve.

Additionally, two new Datejust models were released this year with two different sizes including 31mm and 36mm. Both Datejust 36mm models encase the calibre 3235. The Datejust 36mm was released in Everose Rolesor and Yellow Rolesor. It is also available in different versions with diamond hour markers or with a diamond-encrusted bezel.

The Datejust 31mm was released with a mother-of-pearl dial and a diamond-encrusted bezel. This elegantly designed model is desire of any feminine desire. With a 2236 Calibre, the watch has a power reserve of 55 hours with multiple dials and material options.

The new Rolex DeepSea with Calibre 3235. The 44mm Deepsea Diver watch was released with longer hands, a new bezel, redesigned lugs and sides with a broader bracelet (22mm bracelet verses the previous 20mm bracelet). A little surprising release this year as the Sea-Dweller 43mm Red released in 2017 is so incredibly sought after. However, the DeepSea’s new proportions are very appealing.

Finally, the eye popping release this year was the Rolex Everose Daytona - coated in 36 sapphire and rainbow hues around the dial and 56 brilliant cut diamonds in the case. The chronograph sub-dials are pink, gold crystals - which create a shimmering effect. Bling Bling for sure!

Lastly, we were excited to see the 116610LV is going to be around for another year despite all the rumors of it being discontinued.
