My first introduction to a Rolex watch was a Datejust, specifically my father’s Datejust. My mother purchased him a reference 1603 in 1984, and since then, it has been the apple of my eye. I remember my father letting me hold his Rolex even when I was about five or six. I was always amazed how it did not make any sound but the second hand would sweep perfectly from second to second. One particular item on the watch I was also infatuated with was the two tone jubilee bracelet.
Sadly, thirty years of wear and tear to my father’s trusted timepiece has taken its toll, specifically on that jubilee bracelet. The oyster case is in quite good shape and recently I upgraded his Plexiglas crystal to a sapphire replacement. Other than that old jubilee bracelet, his Datejust is in perfect condition. So here at Everest Horology Products we have decided to take on the project of creating a whole new line of leather straps for those Datejusts in need of some Everest love.
We are going to start with the older model references first, from the early 1980s to the late 1990s. Those hollow, mid-linked Rolex Datejusts are the ones that need it the most, so expect us to start there and work our way to current models for a treatment of leather. Our leather straps for the Datejust will be slightly different than our sport model lines. The leather choices will be more oriented to the Rolex Datejust's unique coloring, and we will be switching the 12 o’clock side from a squarish end to a pointed end. We will also create a new buckle specifically for the Datejust.
Stay tuned to Everest Horology Products as we take the next plunge in helping countless Rolex owners create a new look that perfectly accents their personal tastes. Also, thanks Mom for buying Dad that gorgeous Rolex Datejust thirty years ago. It is about time he got a fresh new look though.
