One of Everest Horology’s favorite things about the Rolex Submariner is the new Rolex Glidelock system.
Of course, designing the Everest Band, we fully integrated both the Rolex Glidelock clasp and the previous Rolex Clasp's into the integration of the strap. Let's take a look at Rolex's design and functional beauty, the Glidelock Clasp. With the Glidelock system on the Rolex Submariner and Deepsea Sea-Dweller, it keeps the timeless look of the Rolex clasp of previous models, but allows for minor 2mm increments with ease.
For divers, it makes putting the watch on over a neoprene diving suit a breeze. The Glidelock system on the Deepsea easily allows for a total 20mm extension not including the diver’s extension. So, if the user has either a large wrist or small wrist, the Glidelock is completely adjustable without the use of any tools. The Glidelock system is available for newer Rolex Submariner models and the Rolex Deepsea Dweller (DSSD) only and is actually longer than any other Rolex clasp. One thing the Glidelock clasp is not, chintzy feeling. The Rolex Glidelock is not made out of thin sheets of steel like many other divers’ clasps.
The clasp is truly a piece of art in motion, creating a unique flawless combination of design and function. There is no tin can sounds like the previous clasps of Rolex, which has actually been nicknamed the “tuna can” clasp by some enthusiasts. When you close the Rolex Glidelock clasp, you feel like the money spent on this watch was totally worth every penny. There was no expense spared in the design, feel, material or look on this Rolex creation. The system is fully patented and is completely unique to the Rolex Submariner, Deepsea and new Submariner “no date.”
One would expect nothing less then what could be considered the best team of diver’s watches, the Rolex Submariner and the Rolex Deepsea.
